Disney's Magic Your Way Tickets Explained
Overview
In January 2005, Disney released their new range of park tickets that replaced the
old Hopper Tickets. For anyone that purchased Hopper Passes prior to this, don't
worry, as these are still valid for the life of the ticket.
At first sight the new ticket options appear to be mind-boggling as there are
so many choices, so on this page we will explain the different aspects of the
tickets to help you make your choice. We will also cover some of the concepts of
what the various options mean.
If you would prefer to talk to someone for more details, you can use the
"Chat to a Representative" button at the top of this page, or if you would

Concepts
The 4 Main Disney Parks
All of the tickets offer a certain number of days in the 4 main Disney Parks.
The 4 Main Disney Parks are
- Magic Kingdom - Famous for Cinderella's Castle
- EPCOT - Composing Future World and World Show Case
- Animal Kingdom - An amusement park / Safari Park
- MGM Studios - Where you can 'Ride the Movies'
| Example: A 5 Day Magic Your Way Ticket
would allow you 5 days in the 4 Main Parks.
You do not have to use all / any individual park(s), so you could use 2 days at
Magic Kingdom, 2 at MGM and 1 at Epcot and not visit Animal Kingdom to make
up the 5 days, or you could visit Animal Kingdom for 5 Days. |
The 'Optional' Disney Attractions
As well as the 4 main Disney parks outlined above, you can purchase tickets
with 'Options' for a small extra charge. The Optional days are over and above
the main days purchased on the ticket, and the number of optional days varies
depending on the number of main days purchased.
The Optional Attractions
- Typhoon Lagoon (Water Park)
- Blizzard Beach (Water Park)
- Disney's Wide World of Sport
- Disney's Pleasure Island (Clubs and Bars at Downtown Disney)
- Disney Quest (Indoor attractions for all the family)
As with the main Disney Park days, the options can be used in any combination
- you can visit the same option for the number of optional days on your ticket,
or you can visit any mixture of options.
The number of options available on your ticket depends on the number of main
Disney Park days purchased as follows (also remember most tickets you select
whether you want the options or not):
- 3 Day Magic Your Way Ticket = 2 options
- 4 Day Magic Your Way Ticket = 3 options
- 5 Day Magic Your Way Ticket = 3 options
- 6 Day Magic Your Way Ticket = 4 options
- 7 Day Magic Your Way Ticket = 5 options
- 10 Day Magic Your Way Ticket = 5 options
Hopping (see below) is not available between the optional Disney attractions
outlined here.
Hopping or No Hopping?
The term 'Hopping' means to visit more than one of the main Disney parks in a
single Day. Tickets with hopping allow you to spend part of the day in one of
the main parks and part of the day in another main park (in fact any number of
parks in a single day) while still only using 1 day's worth of your ticket.
| Hopping Examples Example 1: If you
have a 3 Day Ticket with Hopping then you may take 1 day at Magic Kingdom, 1
day at MGM Studios, half a day at Animal Kingdom and the other half of that
day at Epcot
Example 2: If you have a 3 Day Ticket with NO Hopping, you may
spend day 1at Magic Kingdom, then spend day 2 at MGM Studios, then spend day 3 at Epcot. You cannot visit more than one main park in the same day, even if you are prepared to use 2 days of your ticket for it. |
Important Note: Hopping does not apply to the optional Disney
attractions - only the 4 main parks. Even if you purchase a ticket with Hopping,
if you visit 2 optional parks in one day then 2 option days will be deducted
from your ticket. Likewise, if you visit a main park in the daytime, then for
example visit Pleasure Island in the evening, then you will have used 1 main
Disney Day as well as 1 Option day.
14 Day Expiry or No Expiry?
The next option available is whether to have the tickets expire after 14
days, or never expire
14 Day Expiry
Regardless of the number of days purchased, from the day you first use your
ticket, all days purchased must be taken within 14 days of that date. There is
no time limit between the date you purchase the ticket and the day you first use
the ticket.
| Example of 14 Day Expiry You purchase a 5 Day Magic Your Way
Ticket with 14 day Expiry. The purchase is made on 1st February and you
receive the tickets on 10th February, ready for a trip to Disney in August.
You first use your ticket on 1st August when you spend a day at MGM Studios.
You MUST use any days in Disney by 15th August in this example, at which
point the ticket expires. The 5 days do not have to be taken consecutively -
they can be used in any combination you like between 1st - 15th August. |
No Expiry
For little extra cost you can choose for your purchased days not to expire.
This means the number of days on the ticket can be used over a period of a life
time. This is particularly beneficial if you think you may go back to Florida
again for a subsequent trip, as any unused days can be used any time in the
future.
| Example of No Expiry You purchase a 7 Day Magic Your Way Ticket
with NO Expiry. You make the purchase in February for a trip you have
planned in August. You don't actually plan on spending 7 days in Disney
Parks, but you have it in mind to go to Florida again in a few years time.
In August you make 4 days of visits to the main Disney Parks meaning you
have 3 days left over. Five years later you back to Disney and use 2 of the
remaining three days. You then have 1 day remaining that you use on a 3rd
trip 4 years later. |
