Disney Pirate and Princess Party

Most trips to Orlando will include a visit to Disney’s Magic Kingdom. It is the theme park where dreams are made and the most famous of all Disney parks. As seasoned travellers to Florida we have visited Magic Kingdom many times and although it is always fabulous, we felt that we wanted to try a different sort of Magic Kingdom experience, and how better to do that than at their Pirate and Princess party.

We have a little boy who is mad about all things to do with Pirates of the Caribbean, and a little girl who is totally besotted with the idea of being a Princess! So the party seemed a perfect venue for us.

So what is different about the party, to an ordinary day out at magic Kingdom? Well, the party is held on different days throughout the summer season, so check online with Disney as to the dates. We found, last year there were around eight party dates throughout July and August. The party starts at 6pm and goes on ‘till 11 pm so your time is shorter in the park than a normal day. However, the party gates open at 4pm so in reality, you have ample time to do everything you would like to.

The party is very much themed to pirates and princesses and most children dress up. The cast members are also in role and the Disney Characters are dressed up to match the theme. You will meet all your favourites like Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, Chip and Dale etc all dressed up as either pirates or princesses. You will also come across all the Disney princesses like Cinderella, Arial, Aurora, and Jasmine and don’t forget Captain Jack Sparrow and his friends from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

There are themed parades and shows, games and activities for everyone. You will be given a little treasure bag as you enter the park and there are treasure maps and barrels of sweet treats for you to collect –plenty of pirate booty for everyone! !

There is a spectacular firework show and other live shows which all add to the exciting party atmosphere.

But perhaps the best bit of the party is the fact that place are limited and therefore the park seems very empty compared to a normal day. This is a huge advantage because although you are at the party for a shorter time, you actually get to do twice as many rides and shows because there is absolutely no queuing. In fact, you are made to feel like VIPs. You can wander around in peace and quiet without the usual jostling and pushing that can happen at busier times. You can simply stand and watch the parade go by, without having to bag a small corner of a pavement an hour in advance! You can walk on to any ride – they are all open for you to enjoy, and you can meet and greet the characters and have magical photo opportunities as many times as you like!

All of this – and the entrance price is very much less than a normal park day price.

We would highly recommend this Disney experience and can’t wait for the next party. Hoorah! !
