Downtown Disney is not to be missed on a trip to Florida. Even if you don’t go to the parks then you can get all your Disney souvenirs from the wide range of Disney shops to keep you and the family amused for hours.
One of my favourites is the Christmas shop, which is open all year and packed with Disney Christmas goodies and gifts to keep your memories of your wonderful time at Disney fresh in your memory. I like to buy a Christmas tree decoration every time I visit, and each one holds a special memory for me. It does sometime seem a little strange to be looking at Christmas decorations in the height of summer, but hey…..that’s Disney magic for you!
Another of my favourite shops is the Disney cook shop, full of all types of tableware kitchen gadgets and cooking items. I bought a spoon rest shaped like Mickey’s gloved hand, and a cool wine stopper shaped like Mickey’s head. I could have bought the whole shop, but how would I get it all home on the plane? There were some lovely glasses and heaps of fabulous mugs, which I like to collect and cant resist buying one (or two) every time I go there.
For the children there are so many things to spend their money on. Cuddly toys abound, of all the different Disney characters, dressed in various costumes and it is so hard to decide which one to buy. I always make my way to the Tinkerbell area, as she is one of my favourites, I also like to visit the hundred acre wood, and see Winnie the pooh, Piglet and of course Tigger, and the boys like to visit the sporting area. My son always buys a baseball every time we visit, he now has quite a collection but I think on our next trip he might feel he is too old to get another (he is 15) but then again……..who knows!
For Disney pin traders there is a wealth of pins to buy, swap with friends, other guests of even cast members. There are so many different pins and they are very popular, and very collectable.
Don’t forget to take a look in at Mickey’s –mart, everything is $10 and under, and grab yourself a bargain!
If you get hungry and need a break from the shopping there are lots of places to eat, from full restaurants to snack bars and ice cream stalls
Downtown Disney is great for all your Disney shopping, it is easy to park close by and get all your purchases easily to your car.
All in all a magical experience, not to be missed.
