LonghornsIf you like steak – you will be in heaven. I have never tasted a better steak anywhere in the world, and to be honest I’m not a big meat eater, so that speaks volumes! The nearest Longhorns for us is along the Highway 192 – very close to the ’big orange’ (which is between Old Town and Medieval Times. There is also another one on the Orange Blossom Trail. Once inside you could imagine that you were in the middle of the Texas cow country rather than commercialised Orlando. The décor is rustic with animal heads and other artefacts around the walls. Start by having a drink sitting on high bar schools at the bar whilst you wait for your table. Although Longhorns is a very popular place to eat we have never had to wait for more than about 20 minutes for a table. When you are called, you will be taken to your table and introduced to your server. We always start with the Texas cheese fries – which are fries covered with a spicy mince and melted four cheese topping. Beware – the portions are huge! One serving shared between 2 is ample – we have even shared between 4! The next thing to arrive at your table is the most delicious freshly baked warm bread, which is served on a wooden board with soft butter which just melts on the bread – delicious! For the main course there are, naturally, a vast number of steaks to choose from. The first time I went there I tried the Renegade – and to be honest I am very unadventurous and always go for this! However, despite being a Steakhouse there are other options apart from steaks, such as fish and chicken. There are various potato choices and also side orders if required. The main course is served with salad (which can, as in most eateries, be eaten as a starter). If you have room for desert you are in for a treat……the size of the deserts are, well, enormous! Why not ask for extra spoons and share! We can thoroughly recommend Longhorns and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! It will soon be added to your list of ‘must do’ places to eat too!
