Why holiday in Orlando?Florida Guide > Planning your Trip Wildlife of Florida Every knows about the alligators in the Everglades, but were you aware you can see raccoons, opossum, armadillos, skunks and snakes. All of these you may see if you go on a wildlife trip but snakes are not likely to cross your path, they keep well away from humans. The birdlife is a sight to behold. In England the largest thing you will probably see on a day to day basis, is a seagull if you live on the coast. The birdlife here is a lot different to the UK; there are buzzards, eagles, vultures, turtles and herons, all of which fly around all over Florida. Of course to enjoy all these things, you will want to know about the weather. Weather in Florida The Sunshine State, as Florida has been dubbed, attracts 60 million visitors each year, drawn to the attractions and the year-round sunshine. Winter months see average temperatures of 22C (72F) with occasional chilly nights, while summers reach a steamy 32C (90F). Florida averages less than half an inch of rain per month. The wettest months are July and August, when short sharp tropical showers fall in the afternoons, but the sun soon returns to dry up the roads. However some of the best times for a Florida villa holiday are April, May, June, October and November. Temperatures are very pleasant and days are long, dry and sunny. We usually travel in December, January, February or March. Really every month is good in Florida as you can always get some sunshine even in January! Pool heat is usually advisable during the winter months of October to April (unless you are really hardy). However some people still like the pool heated, just to take the chill off for an early morning dip. The amount villa owners will charge varies depending on whether their pool is heated by electricity (slightly cheaper) or gas, the size of the pool and its aspect.
