Citricos

Florida Guide > Dining

Most visitors to Orlando will probably dine in the restaurants whilst visiting the theme parks, at your villa or at the many eateries along the 192 and surrounding areas. One thing you may not know is that there are many fine restaurants in the Walt Disney World hotels and also that they are open to the general public, you don’t need to be a guest actually staying in that hotel. We love to eat in the hotel’s restaurants and Citricos is one of our very favourites.

Citrico’s is located on the second floor of Walt Disney World’s flagship hotel, The Grand Floridian Hotel and Spa. You can choose to either ride in the glass elevator and then walk along the balcony to the restaurant or walk up the stairs located on both sides of the huge lobby. I would recommend arriving early so that you can have a look around this magnificent hotel or just sit in the lobby for a little while listening to the gentile piano music. Opening in the autumn of 1997, Citrico’s specialises in Mediterranean cuisine offering a market fresh menu with such delights as jumbo crab cakes, roast duck, grilled swordfish, beef etc. Your menu will also suggest wine pairings for each course of the meal.

Citrico’s has a wonderful view of the Seven Seas Lagoon and if you are planning to dine whilst Magic Kingdom’s fireworks are taking place be sure to ask for a table with a view when making your reservation. I would definitely recommend making reservations to avoid any disappointment.

This restaurant features an open kitchen so depending where you are sitting you can actually watch your food being prepared. Citrico’s also has a children’s menu with all the usual favourites and a special dessert when the little ones can create their own ice-cream sundae.

One of the things I love about Citrico’s is the elegant atmosphere and the fact that you can dress up if you wish. However, if you arrive wearing jeans, you won’t be turned away and are made to feel just as welcome. The service is excellent and at no time did we feel hurried and we were able to take our time and enjoy our excellent meal.

Citrico’s is only open for dinner between 5. 30pm and 10. 00pm. To make a reservation call (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463). The dress code is business casual, trousers, jeans, dress shorts, blouses, shirts with collars and sweaters. Swimsuits, tank tops, t-shirts, hats and flip-flops are not allowed.
