Hollywood Studios

Florida Guide > Hollywood Studios

Which theme park is the best depends on your own personal preferences. One of my favourite parks is Hollywood Studios (one of the Disney Parks). The park is designed around a movie theme and really brings the movies to life through the various rides on offer.

When you first visit the park it is always best to have your tickets pre ordered, this saves from the large queues you will find at the entrance. We did not pre book our tickets and really wished we had as not only were they much more expensive on the gate the queue was quite long. Anyway after 30 minutes we were into the park and not dissapointed!

Once in we headed for the Tower Of Terror ride (located over the far side of the park). This is a good place to start first thing in the morning as most of the people go anticlockwise around the park. The ride is themed around the Twilight Zone and is a mixture of free fall lift and special effects. The combination woks really well together and if you have not been on the ride before keeps you wondering what is coming up next. In the end you all end up the lift shaft and go for a 13 storey drop (or two). Since I last time rode this ride, they have added even more drops and now the drops are totally random so everytime you go on the experience is slightly different.

Next to Tower Of Terror is my favourite ride in Hollywood Studios, Rock ā€˜nā€™ Rollercoaster by Aerosmith. The ride is based on a slingshot rollercoaster that launches you from 0 ā€“ 60 in under 3 seconds then onto a series of loops and banked turns. The main part of this ride is the build up when you see Aerosmith in the recording studio before they go onto a stadium performance, then you are asked to join them for a ride through the streets of Hollywood in a stretch Limo rollercoaster. What adds to the overall feel of this ride is the Aerosmith music being played as you through the streets of Hollywood.

What makes Hollywood Studios stand out from the rest of the other parks is the size of the shows. Lights camera action, stunt show is one of the biggest in Orlando and has cars racing through the streets of Europe. During the show they take time out to show you how the scenes are put together. Another Show is Indiana Jones spectacular. The show is based on the first Indiana Jones movie (Raiders of the lost Arc). Again during the show they talk you through how the scenes are set up.

Other rides include star Tours (Based on Star Wars), where you ride onboard a transporter on its way to another planet, only to end up near the Death star! This ride is due for a major upgrade in the coming year. Finally there is the Muppet 3-D show. This show is very funny and has good interaction with the audience.

Overall I would rate Hollywood Studios as one of my favourite Theme parks. You need to make sure you get there very early in the day to fully experience everything as the shows only play a couple of times each day.
