The Journey into Imagination Pavilion - Epcot

Florida Guide > Epcot

This Pavilion, which is sponsored by Kodak, has been a part of Epcot since it originally opened and I can remember going to it with my family for the first time in the late 1980s.

I find over the years it has probably changed more than any other pavilion in Epcot. We went to see Figment on our first visit and although this was absent for several years it was brought back in 2002.

There are three attractions in the Journey into Imagination Pavilion.

Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Journey into Imagination with Figment and the What If Labs.

If you decide to go to see Figment and have young children with you you need to be aware that there are 2 parts of the ride (one at the beginning and one near the end), where it gets very dark and very noisy. Although our youngest girl, who is not the bravest child, enjoys this young children who are afraid of the dark may be frightened.

When you go to see Honey I Shrunk the Audience it is often wise to get a Fastpass if there is a queue. This really is a realistic 3-D show. However if you or your party do not like snakes, lions or mice then you may not want to see it!

3D glasses are worn and we usually sit our youngest girls on someone’s lap because although she really enjoys the show parts of it can be very noisy.

When you leave the show you go into the Kodak What If Labs. These are not always crowded and are a great place for kids to run around, touch things and get out rid of some of the energy they seem to acquire in Florida!

Here they can conduct an orchestra before going on to other interactive experiments included stepping stones that create sounds and a special mirror that distort your body. I must admit even the adults in our party tend to join in here.

The Gift Shop is by the What If Labs and has computer-generated photos taken with Disney Characters. There are a number of Kodak Instant Photo booths where you can make your own Epcot Passport, Photo-ID Badge for the Imagination Institute, or picture postcards to send to friends and family.

You can also buy Figment merchandise in the form of mugs, T-shirts, key rings etc. Our original Figment is now nearly 20 years old!

Be sure to check you Epcot Times Guide as Figment sometimes appears in the small building to the left of the Honey I Shrunk the Audience entrance.

Although there our no food outlets in this Pavilion next door at the Land there is the Sunshine Seasons food court and sit-down character restaurant, the Garden Grill.

Hope you enjoy this Pavilion our girls always do.
