Bubba Gump’s at Universal Florida

Well we have eaten at many places in Orlando on our many holidays but have never eaten in the Citiwalk area of Universal Studios main due to the fact that it tends to get very busy in the evening with people out for the evening going to the bars and restaurants it has a more grown up feeling to it and in many previous years our kids had been much younger but as everyone was now over the age of 21 and could therefore legally have a beer we decided to try to find some where to eat.
Will and Karlie were with us and Karlie can be a little choosy about her food she is not as adventurous as the rest of us so we had a good long look at the menu to see if there was anything she would like. For us the choice was just which shrimp dish to have because unless you have been living on the moon you have seen the film Forest Gump with Tom Hanks you will know Bubba Gump and shrimps feature heavily in the film.
I opted for the Jambalaya, Shirley went for the "I’m stuffed" shrimp and Will chose Shrimpers heaven which offers a number of each of the different types of shrimp on the menu , the coconut shrimp ending as his all time favourite shrimp.
As we had never been to bubba gumps before the waitress gave us the run down on thing the most interesting thing was the unique way you attracted attention if you wanted service from the waitress, they had a red and blue licence plate on the table which u could change
If you turned over the red plate this mean any waitress that was passing had to stop and ask what you require , so if you wanted some drinks you turned the red plate to show and you got almost immediate service.
When you turned the plate to blue you were left alone and not interrupted by the waitress leaving you to enjoy your meal and company in piece, I have to say this is a brilliant idea and why more food outlets don’t adopt this method is beyond me.
The waitress came along before the food arrived and we had a little quiz on the film Forrest Gump which was fun and a good way to stop you getting bored before your food arrived. The food soon arrived and I have to say it was all delicious and the service was outstanding probably one of the best meals we ate all holiday I would highly recommend Bubba Gump’s to anyone
