Ever fancied trying something different…. like a bison burger? Well visiting the States quite often we have grown to enjoy eating at Ted’s Montana Grill where you can try a bison burger! There are now a few of these in Florida and the group is expanding.

The original Grill opened in Ohio in January 2002 – ironically the first Grill in Montana did not open until 2008! Now it’s grown to 47 restaurants in 16 states across America and gratifyingly they can be in found in Florida.
The food is very tasty, cooked to order whilst using fresh, pure ingredients. And the bison burgers are well worth a try and of course are their speciality! Now if you are wondering what bison meat is it is another name for buffalo meat. To try to describe its flavour, it is like strong beef. Very tasty, and once tried many prefer its flavour. It can appear ‘lighter’ and is leaner. (If you cook it yourself it needs less cooking time. )

Ted’s Montana Grill menu is varied and is not just bison, though! Starters include favourites such as shrimp, salads, onion rings, mini burgers … and bison nachos! Main courses include chicken, seafood, steaks, burger and sandwiches whilst also offering a kids menu with popular choices including macaroni cheese.

For desert try one of their delicious floats or a milkshake, made to order, if you already full and if you want a treat try their freshly squeezed lemonade to finish on a lighter note. Drinks are the regular selection of sodas, beers and wines with a selection of cocktail drinks to try.

The design of the restaurants remind me of what I’d expect of a cattleman’s club (oh I remember ‘Dallas’! ! ) – a masculine feel , although their staff have told us its ‘early classic 20th century’ . Either way it is a unique design and an enjoyable experience eating there! Within the restaurants there is wood panelling and polished brass, pendant lighting, as well as individual booths with their own lights. The tables are covered with a cloth overlaid with brown paper. This is not tacky but there for design and their signature appearance! As well as the booths there are small individual tables too which servers are happy to join together if you have a large group.

The ethos or philosophy of Ted’s Montana Grill is to be as eco-friendly as possible. For example they reintroduced the paper straw to the US (it had not been made there since 1970! ), print menus on recycled paper and use other bio-degradable materials where possible. Their restaurant in Tallahassee, Florida has 66 solar panels on the top of its restaurant.
