What’s so great about Universal Studios? Islands of Adventure 4

In the last part we had just visited Ripsaw Falls and got wet, well if you fancy something a bit more sedate and dry then why not visit Popeye’s Me Ship The Olive this is an imaginative play area for the kids, it’s on tree decks there lots of passageways to crawl though, slides to slide down, cargo nets to climb nested amongst the ship’s cargo of spinach .

Best of all on the second deck are the water cannons that you can use to squirt on the unsuspecting passengers on the Popeye and Bluto’s bilge rat barges there’s nothing better than soaking some poor unsuspecting riders, watch them as they try to avoid you soaking them through.

Next is the best water ride in any of the parks Popeye and Bluto’s bilge rat barges but just a word of warning you will get wet on this ride so choose your clothing carefully a pair of shorts and a quick drying T Shirts works well some people even choose to ride in their swim wear (or one of those rain ponchos) Help Popeye rescue Olive from the clutches of Bluto by braving the twists and turns of the white water rapids just make sure that you have your spinach for breakfast, soon you’re splashing your way through the waterways of sweet haven before you have to enter the octopus grotto where you will encounter an octopus 18-foot tall, 14-foot wide octopus with 10-foot long tentacles.

Make sure that any valuables you take on the ride hand bags cameras or phones are put in the carousel in front of you in the barge and the waterproof cover is fitted. If at all possible don’t take things on the ride as there are lockers provided close by. As I have said earlier you will definitely get wet so don’t forget to bring a towel with you, but you can always buy one if you forget.

After all the excitement you may now find yourself feeling a little hungry and there are a couple of places to eat in Toon Lagoon, comic strip café and Blondie’s home of the dogwood.

Comic Strip Café offers counter service and serves Fried Chicken, Fish & Chips, Hot Dogs, Burgers, and even Asian & Italian Dishes and the walls of the restaurant are lined with your favourite comic strip characters.

Blondie’s Home of the Dogwood again offers counter service serving made-to-order Deli Subs and Sandwiches including the famous, piled-high ' Dagwood. ' a gravity-defying sandwich stacked with fresh meats, cheeses, vegetables and dressings.

Have fun!
