For a thrilling adventure that is a little different to the usual parks in Orlando why not try Boggy creek airboat rides.
Easily reached from anywhere around the Orlando areas, if you travel down the US192 east to Poinciana blvd between markers 10 and 11 turn right onto it and drive approximately 18 miles south virtually to the end, it is sign posted so you cannot miss it.
You do not need to book for a daytime visit but there are night time ones too and these need to be booked before you go and are only available in the summer months. The night time ones are an hour long and the daytime ones are half an hour, but certainly the most exhilarating one you are likely to have ! !
They are very safe and driven by experienced US coast guards. They hold up to 18 people at a time and travel over the surface of the water at 45 miles per hour.
This breathtaking beauty of the natural Florida Everglades is an exciting a ride as you will ever find and very educational too.
The natural unspoilt Florida consisting of wetlands and Cyprus trees, with all the wildlife such as alligators, turtles and eagles in their natural habitat is a truly wondrous sight, combining that with the thrill of the speed of the airboat is brilliant.
Everyone is given earmuffs as the noise of the air boats are quite deafening! and children are provided with life vests. You also need to very careful if you take a camera with you as the spray of the water can ruin them easily.
During the trip the driver stops several times to look at spots where alligators can be seen, the rest of the ride is amazing and the boats skims across the water and flip from side to side sometimes soaking you with the spay of the lake water, it is really great fun for people of all ages.
The night time trip lasts an hour and not for people afraid of the dark! You can see the alligators by their red eyes in the pitch blackness of the night. The drivers wear miner’s hats allowing you to see them better. Warm clothing is recommended for the night time trips, as the lake water can be chilly as you catch the spray! These trips need to be booked in advance as they are extremely popular.
So if you want a thrilling ride but an educational one, be brave and give it a go.
