Our first Family day in Epcot

Florida Guide > Disney Parks

Where shall we go today? ? ?

EPCOT ! ! ! !

I will never forget my first visit to Epcot. It is now several years ago since our first visit, and it always remains our family’s favourite park. I thought you might like to share our experience.

As we drove up to the park, we could see the impressive and absolutely huge “Golf Ball” at the entrance of Epcot. We could hardly wait to get into the park. Everyone was excited about our visit, it was a lovely sunny day and we were all ready for a day of fun. On entering Epcot we picked up a park map so we could enjoy all that Epcot had to offer.

Our first stop was a ride called “Spaceship Earth” which takes you inside the huge 55 metre tall geosphere. It takes you on a ride through time, with the theme of communications. This ride was amazing and is now a must for us on every visit, it holds special memories and I still get excited seeing the huge globe as we drive up to Epcot. I am always fascinated by this ride, which is suitable for everyone in the family.

The rest of future World was amazing, the children found plenty of things to interest them, especially some of the “hands on” futuristic developments. Ellen’s energy adventure was also a big hit with the kids.

The World Showcase was fascinating to wander around, seeing all the different countries represented, and England, with its fish and chip shop, and Pub was a reminder of home. The countries are all placed around a huge lagoon, and it took us quite a few hours to visit all the different pavilions, and get a feel of all the different cultures. We particularly liked the China and were amazed watching the incredible antics of the acrobats.

We watched a live musical performance at the American Gardens Theatre before continuing our World showcase tour. (A great place to have a sit down and a rest)

The perfect end to a perfect day would have to be the brilliant firework display in the evening! We had never seen such a fantastic display before, everyone was gathered around the World Showcase lagoon to get a good view, the atmosphere was electric, the fireworks out of this world, and to see the look on the children’s faces is worth more than anything money can buy!

Our children are now Teenagers and still love Epcot, their tastes have changed, but there is still plenty of things to do in Epcot, and it still holds for us that special Disney magic that it did all those years ago.
